Jobs for Illinois Graduates (JILG) is proud to feature Antioch Community High School (ACHS), home of the Sequoits as its featured school of the month. Antioch is located in the far northeast corner of Illinois 60 miles north of Chicago along the Wisconsin state border. The total enrollment at ACHS is approximately 1700 students and is attended by students from the cities of Antioch and Lindenhurst.

The 2007 JILG program was extremely active and was able to complete a number of Service Learning Projects which strongly impacted their local community. Some of the projects completed included working with the Village of Antioch to organize a Daddy/Daughter Dance, feeding needed families during Thanksgiving in conjunction with The Open Arms Food Pantry, as well as raising money to help a local girl with cancer take her dream vacation through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The new JILG class of 2008 comprised of 40 students hopes to continue the trend of helping those who are in need in their community and is already planning a number of projects it hopes to complete this fall.

With an outstanding reputation for having outstanding JILG programs ACHS, was recently recognized by JILG at its Statewide Conference for exceeding the 5 for 5 follow-up standard for the class of 2006, which included a 95% graduation rate, 97% Job Placement Rate, 100% Positive Outcome Rate, 93% Full-Time Placement Rate and a 65% Full-Time Job Rate. It is also worthy to note that 56% of graduating ACHS JILG students were enrolled in a post-secondary education program. Not only was the program recognized by JILG for its work with the class of 2006, but ACHS was also recognized on a national level at this year Jobs for America’s Graduates National Training Seminar for achieving one of the highest job placement rates in the nation.
