Peoria HS Principal, Randy Simmons, visited Springfield-Southeast’s JILG program on January 13, 2009 to see if the program would be a good match for his school next year. Mr. Simmons spent time with the students from Southeast’s class asking how the program worked and what benefits it would offer to his school and it’s students.
Southeast’s Aaron Slater and Isiah Hopson emphasized the extra support they received from their JILG Specialist in keeping up grades and learning about higher education opportinities. Raven Windett talked about how the JILG class students help each other in the classroom and outside the classroom. Stefani Petersen spoke on the feeling of confidence she has being in the class and the friends she has made. Keith Dickerson focused on the service opportunities that the JILG program encourages and the connections you can make for future use.
