Student Comments

JILG has helped me realize how many opportunities are out there once you graduate and to never give up. - Erica Martinez, John F. Kennedy HS JILG has helped me figure out my preferences, my career goals, and to better understand what it will take to have the lifestyle I someday wish to have. - April Robinson, Murphysboro HS JILG has helped me understand myself and has helped me realize what I'm capable of doing and what I'm capable of being! - Desiree Williams, Cahokia HS JILG has helped me better understand myself and define my life goals. - Chase Lyttle, Robinson HS JILG has made me strive more to be something in my life. It has helped me obtain skills needed for success in the adult world - Marcus Crumble, Belleville Township HS West JILG has influenced me to be a better person and find myself in the real world. My career Specialist has aided me in my search for a great career and has allowed me to reach for my dreams. The program has allowed me to become more active in the community and allowed me to extend my knowledge of the people in the community. It has enabled me to feel really good about myself and to help others; which I have always wanted to do since I was little. - Andrew Cummings, Flora HS JILG has helped me stay out of trouble and make better grades because all through my high school career I've made about a 1.4 GPA and then this year becoming the president and stepping up has made me become more responsible during school and behavior-wise because the whole school knows that I wasn't the best student. Mrs Scott (my Career Specialist) put her trust in me for the position and now I feel I haven't let her down. Actually, I know I haven't let her down. I've made her proud of me. - Travis Darnold, Lawrenceville HS I know that I can't change the people in my life, or my past, but what I do know is that I can shape my future to be different than my past. - Edwina Fischer, JILG student JILG has taught me in order to build a better life I must continue to educate myself. - Julia Campos, Kennedy HS We have a tremendous amount of respect for our JILG teachers. Not only are they our teachers, but they are our mentors and our friends. Most of all, they believe in us and have helped us see the importance of our future. - JILG Students
